Face Painting
There is never a dull moment in Whitefish. Throughout the year we have great events. Winter Carnival is a seasonal festival steeped in tradition, dating back to the early 1960’s. Huckleberry Days celebrates the finest artists from around the valley and the nation. Local growers sell top quality produce at Farmer’s Markets throughout the summer. The Whitefish Theater Company brings Broadway actors to the stage in summer, and boasts a full schedule of plays and musical events. Events worth planning for are happening in Whitefish! Below is a listing of some of the many fun and exciting annual events happening in Whitefish throughout the year.

Whitefish Winter Carnival
First weekend of February Whitefish rolls out a grand celebration of winter.
The Carnival has been a major event in Montana for over 40 years. Carnival Royalty preside over ski races, ice hockey, figure skating performances, ski joring competitions, snow skate competitions, a torchlight ski descent and many other highlights. Moonlight Dine and Ski
An evening of fantastic cuisine and winter adventure. Watch the moon rise from the summit of Big Mountain, feast on delicious dishes, top it off with some dessert, then click into your bindings and ski or snowboard down the mountain by moonlight. Or, for guests who prefer, climb aboard the Glacier Chaser gondola/chairlift for a smooth cruise back to the village. Monthly during winter.

Whitefish Winter Games
A highlight of the winter season, the Special Olympics Montana State Winter Games bring together more than 200 Special Olympics athletes and their coaches for three days of winter sports competition at The Big Mountain Resort. March

Winter Classic
The winter classic features professional and collegiate football players helping to raise money for kids through an art show, basketball game, autograph signing sessions, auctions, V.I.P. dinner, outdoor cookout, brunch, poker run, and restaurant challenge. March

Downtown Farmers' Market
Every Tuesday afternoon, May through mid-September Local growers sell their fruits and vegetables, flowers and crafts, and more outside on Central Avenue.

Whitefish Farmers' Market
Every Thursday afternoon, May through late September Local growers, bakers, and artists all sell their products outside in the parking lot of the Pin & Cue(6570 Hwy 93 South).

Whitefish Lake Run
At the end of June, participants compete in a 10K and 5K Track & Field Certified Race.

Fourth of July
The evening begins at City Beach with a carnival including hoola-hoop contests, egg toss and face painting. A live music on the beach and a most spectacular display of fireworks explodes over Whitefish Lake at dusk.

Whitefish Arts Festival
Held a the Credit Union Park across from the train depot. Over 100 artists from around the Northwest are represented in the Whitefish Arts Festival. Metal sculptures, paintings, photography, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and home decorations are just some of the featured fine arts. All products are handmade. June/July

Big Mountain Summer Fest
Guests are treated to art, music, food, children’s activities and live entertainment at Big Mountain Resort. July

Big Sky Country Antique Fair
Held at the O’Shaughnessy Center, the Big Sky Country Antique Fair features the country’s finest dealers of quality antiques. Variety includes furniture, folk art, architectural, estate jewelry, primitives, china, quilts and linens, antique art and much more. June note: This is not a link

Glacier Challenge
Covering 55 miles of the most beautiful country in Northwest Montana, The Glacier Challenge will be a race to remember! Centered around the quaint town of Whitefish, the race encompasses six different legs. These legs include: a Canoe Leg, a Road Bike Leg, a Mountain Bike Leg, a Kayak Leg, and 2 different Running Legs. Enter as a team, an individual, in our competitive divisions, or just for fun in our recreational divisions! There is a spot for everyone willing to take on the adventure! July

Huckleberry Days
In the middle of August, Whitefish celebrates the native huckleberry. This annual arts festival hosts the finest Artists in the U.S.. Browse through artwork, jewelry, paintings and crafts, all handmade and sold by the artists. Food vendors, kids activities and other special events accompany the festival. Event Applications >>

Brewfest
Support the SNOW bus at the Brewfest at Big Mountain Resort. Try Montana micro brews, listen to great music and enjoy the day. Kids activities, too. The SNOW bus will be running from Whitefish. September

Huckleberry HillClimb
Grab your gears for the Huckleberry Hillclimb mountain bike race. Come ride with us for the wildest event of the season with up to 14 miles and 3,800 vertical feet of grueling uphill. With anywhere from 30 to 50 racers, this competition brings out hillclimbers of all ages. September

Taste of Whitefish
The first Thursday evening in September enjoy an open-air culinary extravaganza. The Taste offers guests the opportunity to savor samples of appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts from dozens of Whitefish’s premier restaurants and chefs. There is also wine tasting of regional wines and beer produced by local brewers.

Whitefish Chamber Golf Tournament
Local teams help support the Chamber in a fun scramble at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course. Event Applications >>

Whitefish Soccer Games
Men’s and women’s competitions take place at Grouse Mountain Park soccer fields. September

Halloween Costume Contest
Downtown bars host a lively Halloween celebration and costume contest. October

Christmas Stroll
On the second friday in December, come out and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas. Roasted chestnuts, sleigh rides, carolers, and street vendors set the scene for t downtown Whitefish. At the annual Christmas stroll merchants go all out to display their wares and serve hot drinks and treats. Event Applications >>

Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade with Santa
Santa and his elves arrive on the Big Mountain escorted by a spectacular torchlight parade. This event has thrilled thousands over the years. After the parade, Santa will stroll the village and give gifts to the youngsters. December
